Love Without Measure

Take a minute and reflect on your day. What is the best thing you did today? If you could brag to God about your one thing from today, what would you run to Him with?

I always believe in starting with the positive. Now, let’s look at the other side of the coin.

What was the worst thing you did today? Yes, it could be something you didn’t do. Someone you didn’t help, encourage, or lift up, perhaps. What happened today that you would be embarrassed to give testimony of to God?

Sometimes I think of God’s love that way. Like a balance. Do my good works out weigh my sin each day or vice versa?

God’s love doesn’t work that way, however.

God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none can boast about it. For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.
Ephesians 2:8-10 NLT

What a beautiful image that scripture paints. Not only can I NOT earn His love and salvation, but I am His masterpiece.

I am a NEW creation in Jesus in order to carry out the good things he specifically planned for me to carry out.

In a world where we measure and place value and judgment on everything and everyone, this type of love is almost incomprehensible.

God loves me in spite of the good things I do. God loves me in spite of the sins I commit. God loves me. I absolutely can’t do anything to earn His love. I love Him because He first loved me.

Love without measure. Love for me, a masterpiece.

What kind of love is this? What kind of love???
