Seeking a Few More Marys

Now after the Sabbath, as the first day of the week began to dawn, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to see the tomb. And behold, there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat on it. His countenance was like lightning, and his clothing as white as snow. And the guards shook for fear of him, and became like dead men. But the angel answered and said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. And go quickly and tell His disciples that He is risen from the dead, and indeed He is going before you into Galilee; there you will see Him. Behold, I have told you.” So they went out quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, and ran to bring His disciples word. Matthew 28:1-8

Mary returned to the tomb as soon as the Sabbath was over.

Can you imagine her surprise when she arrived and found the stone rolled away and an angel perched upon it? The guards? Straight up passed out from fear! Inside the tomb the cloth Jesus had been wrapped in was neatly folded and lying there.

Mary’s surprise was met with a message.

“Don’t be afraid. He’s not here. He is RISEN just like He said! Come and see the tomb. Go and tell the others!”

Mary came to serve Jesus in death, but He came to give her life more abundantly. He came to give her a mission and a message.

Go and tell the others!!! Jesus is not dead! He is alive!!!!

Our mission and our message is the same as Mary’s.

On today, Resurrection Day, the day we call Easter, Jesus Christ isn’t in the tomb!!!! He has risen! He is alive! He resides in Heaven with His Father, and His Spirit lives within His people.

You see, my God’s not dead!!!!

He is seeking a few more Marys. People who are willing to first seek Him, and then serve Him. Are you seeking? Will you call on His name while He may be found?

Today is the day of salvation! Accept His gift of salvation and be welcomed into the family of God with arms open and full of love!!!!
